Welcome to Family Meal, our blog series where we shine a spotlight on one of our amazing Roomies. This month, we sat down with Adam Chesak, a Senior Software Engineer based in the United States.
Adam: Hey, I'm Adam Chesak. I'm a Senior Software Engineer here at SevenRooms. I joined in March of 2022. I've been on the venue experience team for that entire time and team lead since March of 2023.
Adam: My favorite part about working at SevenRooms is definitely the people. The projects my team works on very often involve close collaboration across teams. No matter how many questions I have, which is often a lot, everyone's always very willing to help answer them and generally pitch in on any problem whether it’s large or small.
Adam: Right now, my team has a number of new features and improvements in beta right now. They’re really going to make a significant impact for our clients. I’m excited to start shipping these out to them soon!
The one thing I’m most proud of is our Private Line feature! Private Line allows operators to get in touch with their most important guests using an exclusive messaging line directly in the SevenRooms mobile app. Three teams worked together on this project and it took a lot of learning and close collaboration between everyone to get the product launched.
Adam: I can’t live without my homegrown fruits and vegetables. I look forward to starting my garden every year, it brings me so much joy. The first harvest is one of my favorite days of the year!
Adam: Always ask questions. It doesn’t matter if you think you know the answer, there’s always more to learn. Someone else's perspective may change the way you look at a situation!
Adam: I’m a huge fan of tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) like Dungeon & Dragons and Pathfinder. I started playing in college and got hooked right away. I still regularly play TTRPGs with my friends whenever I get the chance.
Adam: This may be a little bit of a silly answer, but I moved halfway across the country during the early pandemic to Raleigh, North Carolina. Everything was closed down at the time, but as things started to open up more, I wanted to find a new go-to falafel joint. So I ended up spending a few months just trying places and making a rank list of my favorites! This was a fun way to get to know the city and find new restaurants.
This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
